Cyperus iria spikelets hang loose , in C. alulatus they are always stiff , perpendicular to the axis / rachis ...both pretty common in Surat . C. alulatus can be seen 15 cm to 100 cm tall bearing spikes , in C. iria I am yet to see a less than 30 cm plant with spike .
