Looking at various images at GBIF, what I gather is that the specimens of *Desmodium* *laxiflorum *from Africa and Western Ghats seem to have larger leaves (compared with the inflorescence). Specimens from SE Asia do have smaller leaves. They agree more with my plant. Two examples, one from Africa, one from Malaysia, are here: https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/1288064297 https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/2290749603 Also specimens from Africa do have leaves with larger number of nerves than what Flora of China mentions. All this is consistent with the fact that one synonym is *Desmodium macrophyllum *(meaning large leaves). So, my conclusion is that my plant is *Desmodium* *laxiflorum *and there is variation between plants found in Western Ghats and NE India. Best wishes Tabish
