Respected Madam,
Although, images are not always useful for identification, particularly in
the genus, *Memecylon* and it's difficult to say something conclusive from
fruiting specimen alone, I think the plant in the photographs may not be
*Memecylon*. I can't be sure whether the phyllotaxy is alternate in the
photographed plant. If it is alternate, then it is not *Memecylon *(leaves
are opposite in *Memecylon*).
Further, I have never seen a *Memecylon* species with serrated leaves
atleast in India.
Since, I haven't studied other Melastomataceae members, I can't say
definitely if it belongs here. (However, in Melastomataceae, leaves are
usually opposite and acrodromous)
