Thank you very much Nidhan ji and Aarti ji for this ID. The plant is so common, and the fig so elusive ... certainly a prize for me !! The fig was no less large than a normal pear found in markets - about 3 - 4 inch long !!! And the plant was trained to grow in erect fashion with help of support. The leaves otherwise small, here were quite large.
