Here is the note from the Flora: *Tephrosia uniflora ssp. petrosa* Blatt & Hall described from the Indian desert has been regarded as conspecific with the Arabian plant which has been named *T. uniflora* Pers. But due to certain differences in the number of leaflets, length of pods, number of seeds per pod and the nature of indumentum *T. petrosa* Blatt.nd Hall. has been given a subspecific rank in *T. uniflora* Pers.since acccording to Gillett (1958) in N. W. tropical Africa and the Red Sea coast of Arabia occur plants which combine the characater of the Indian and Arabian plants. The epithet uniflora is misleading since it has at least 2 flowers in each axil.
