Hallo all,
just received this mail. Sorry, the Addressee is european union.
However the thought is universal. If you klick http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/fairflowers/ you can read about the action in english.

The demand are:
1. Calling for European legislation to establish a directive which makes the indication of the origin of flowers compulsory.

2. Calling for European legislation to make it obligatory that flowers imported to the European Union are examined on pesticides residues. Pesticides which the World Health Organization categorizes as hazardous (WHO class I) should not be allowed to enter the European Union market.

3. Promoting fair public procurement in European countries and in the bodies of the European Union itself.

4. Promoting ratification of ILO Convention No. 110 (on plantation workers). I see the ILO Convention No. 110 as highly important for the enhancement of the working conditions of the flower workers.

I wonder, if in india something can be done like this.
Regards
Nalini
