Dear Selvalakshmi, Oxalic acid and oxalates are abundantly present in many plants. It was first isolated from wood-sorrel (*Oxalis*). Its presence makes it dangerous to eat unripe carambola or monstera fruits. It is also suggested to consume members of the spinach family in moderation as they are high in oxylates.
