Thanks Saroj ji and Garg ji for resurfacing this post. I think my pictures may not be showing sufficient aspects to ascertain any species of *Calamus*. It does look like *Calamus thwaitesii*, but there is another one - *Calamus pseudotenuis* which looks similar. If someone asserts ID with full confidence, we will go with it, else will stay at genus ID. Regards. Dinesh
