Dear Mr. Mani Nair ji It should bear fruit within a year. Growing it in a pot, I do not know. I know that the stem could become quite big, around 3 inch in width. It is not round normally when it has really grown. I have seen them covering an entire tree 40' tall. Regards Yazdy.
