Sorry, I hadn't seen this 'til just now. I'm voting for Malus due to leaf serration and pink tinge of flowers. Pyrus typically has pure white flowers and glossy, smooth-margined leaves.
Were there any thorns? Pyrus often has them; Malus does not.
