Sir, Unlike the KEY in the "Bengal Plants", *Dioscorea aculeata* Roxb., synonym of *Dioscorea esculenta* (Lour.) Burkill, is a left-twining plant (ref. FoC sec. Dioscorea sect. Combilium <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=110295>). Here it is right -twining, so it is *D. alata*, as has been identified by other members.
Thank you for taking care. Regards surajit.
