To me phyllaries appear similar to those at *Cirsium wallichii* DC.

I think phyllaries become dilated when in flower and after flowering.
Looks different from phyllaries and spines at the tip of phyllaries at *Cirsium
verutum <https://efloraofindia.com/2011/02/15/cirsium-verutum/>*
I do not see any other closer species, as per keys at *Cirsium wallichii *
DC.
