Transliteration of names from local languages to English. The transliteration varies depending on the person's upbringing regarding languages. If we do transliteration from Kannada to Devanagari it is very close. But with English it is not the case. ಕಾಡು ಹರುಡಪಾತಾಳ - Kaadu garudapathala - This transliteration is by South Indian. ಕಾಡು ಹರುಡಪಾತಾಳ - Kaadu garudapatala - This transliteration is by Maharashtrian. ಕಾಡು ಹರುಡಪಾತಾಳ - काडु गरुडपाताळ (But Kannadigas will pronounce it as काडु गरुडपाताळा) ळ and ल is often represented by same letter 'l'. If we use standard phonetic symbols, as used in many dictionaries, this confusion can be cleared.
भारती, आरती, रेवती is often written by South Indians as Bharathi, Aarathi, Revathi. But Maharashtrian will write it as Bharati, Aarati, Revati.
