You are right. In many areas especially Chenna Polyalthia longifolia is called as Ashoka tree, which is wrong. Now it is called as *Madras Ashoka . *Many nurseries mislead the people and offer Polyalthia longifolia as ashoka . Perhaps they may not be knowing correctly.
