Mahonia aquifolium...common name Oregon grape.
Some botanists now have this under Berberis.
It is very confusing...you can decide.

The flowers are in almost round balls which is very different to other 
Mahonia..where the flowers are in long strings.
It has fabulous blue berries.

I must get some good pics of it to add to my library. it is flowering here 
as well just now.
