Inflorescence and foliage look much like ombu, Phytolacca dioica, from South 
America. Is this a cultivated tree?

because the leaves are entire. In E acuminata (Boraginaceae) the leaves are 
serrate. Most probably this is E. laevis with the asymmetric nature of leaves. 
To confirm the id I need the number of styles and whether the style is bifid or 
not.
