I agree with Nivi Tha ji's id. The plant is known as 'Traveller's Terror' as it gives a very 'tough time' to the explorers in the forest, espl scrub jungles where it forms impenetrable thickets. As the hooked prickles face different directions you are sure to get caught by the copiously prickled arching branches that ultimately damage your clothe and hurt the skin. However, the flowers are fragrant, a source of honey; and the winged fruits are attractive. I think it is endemic to peninsular India.
