This is the very widespread Nephrolepis cordifolia, which is also a native species from N. to S. India. The bulbils produced on the rhizome runners can be eaten when fully ripe (after removing scales), known as pani amala in Nepal. But unripe ones are bitter. Chris Fraser Jenkins, Portugal.
