Dear Tanay Your half sentences sometimes can cause confusion. Yes the fruits of two species are definitely different, much longer, narrower and free in W. tinctoria shorter, broader and connate in W. arborea (W. tomentosa).
W. arborea: Follicles connate, 15-18 cm long, 1.25-2 cm wide (total width 3-4 cm), cylindric, pendulous, grooved at the union of the carpels, beaked, striate with white dots all over W. tinctoria: Follicles 25-50 long, free, 6-8 mm wide, united at the apex when young, cylindrical, glabrous, pendulous, striate. -- Dr. Gurcharan Singh Retired Associate Professor SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 Res: 932 Anand Kunj, Vikas Puri, New Delhi-110018.
