No, it could NOT! Please do refer to the relevant literature, The Annotated Checklist of Indian Pteridophytes vol. 1 (2016), Bishen Singh Mahendra Pal Singh, Dehra Dun. One must have some access to literature to identify plants. O. japonica is confined in India to the Himalaya. The peninsular Indian plant is O. hilsenbergii, an African element in the Indian flora, which is also distinct from O. regalis (not present in India). This is O. hilsenbergii.
