I found that the Floras of peninsular India have included *Plantago major* *auct. non L.* ... a synonym of some other distinct *Plantago*. often of Plantago asiatica L. *Plantago major* in Kerala plants is *Plantago major* *sensu Hook. f.*, Fl. Brit. India 4: 705. 1885 p.p., *non L.* 1753; synonym of *Plantago erosa* Wall. ... which is considered as synonym of *Plantago asiatica* subsp. *erosa* (Wall.) Z.Yu Li Thus, these names നിലചക്ക nilachakka and രമ്പൂരി njaramboori refer to another *Plantago major*. Regards.
