Dear Garg ji, Long back you had expressed surprise that although *Androsace villosa, *showed distribution in W Himalaya, it did not figure in Flora of Pakistan. I found out, what figures in W Himalaya is *Androsace villosa* var. *robusta* <https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:60458960-2> which is a synonym of *Androsace jacquemontii* var. *robusta, *the currently accepted name. Androsace robusta which is considered by FOP is a synonym of *Androsace jacquemontii* var. *robusta.* Androsace robusta is also listed in Klimes & Dickore's Ladakh checklist. I think this solves the mystery. Tabish

There is a real confusion over here. I could not find *Androsace villosa, *though distribution is given in POWO <https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:77228473-1> and CoL <http://www.catalogueoflife.org/annual-checklist/2019/details/species/id/04cad3fecb9456b279314ae1a7eae52e> . Flora of Pakistan gives *Androsace robusta* ssp. <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=250081171>*robusta <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=250081171> (*Androsace jacquemontii var. robusta (R.Knuth) Govaerts in POWO). It says: The ssp. *robusta* differs from the European *Androsace villosa* in its robust habit and with larger plant parts. .................... The species *Androsace robusta* has also been confused with and included in *Androsace muscoidea* by several authors (Handel-Mazzetti 1927, p. 163 and Gould 1982). The two taxa are quite distinct not only morphologically but also occupy to a greater extent different areas. Also see A.villosa <http://www.alpines.be/androsaceworld/fotogallerij/villosa/index.html> and A.robusta <http://www.alpines.be/androsaceworld/fotogallerij/robusta/index.htm> in Androsace World.
