Hello Garg ji,

About the differences, here are some bits I collected and summed up:

*Thespesia populnea* and *Thespesia populneoides* are similar in that they
are both trees or shrubs with showy flowers, but they have some differences
in their leaves, fruits, and seeds:

*Leaves*:
*Thespesia populnea* has heart-shaped leaves that are shiny and alternate,
while
*Thespesia populneoides* has spirally arranged leaves that are light green
and triangular heart-shaped.

*Fruits*:
*Thespesia populnea* has mature fruits that are easily broken, while
*Thespesia populneoides* has mature fruits that are not broken (outer fruit
splitting into 5 segments, exposing indehiscent inner fruit) ...
*Thespesia populneoides* fruit pedicels are normally long and often hanging.

*Seeds*:
*Thespesia populnea* has broadly ovate seeds, while
*Thespesia populneoides* has narrowly ovate seeds.

*Reference*: Fosberg, F. Raymond; Sachet, Marie-He´le`ne (1972) - *Thespesia
populnea <https://archive.org/details/thespesiapopulne71972fosb>* (L.)

I find Viplav ji's post Dehiscent fruits in the Thespesia populations of
Mumbai - VG-JUL-10
<https://groups.google.com/g/indiantreepix/c/1Ia87nvMMpE/m/aJb54uRcMpcJ>
has touched on this subject long ago ... where he puts his thought: "a
large number of the *Thespesia* strands in Mumbai appear to intergrade
between *T. populnea* and *T. populneoides*." and ends his post seeking
comments and observations.

Regards.
Dinesh
