Flora of China <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=115438> gives the following keys: 7 (6) <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=115438#KEY-1-6> Stipules auriculate; stem prickles without basal tubercle, curved. 20 *H. surattensis* <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200013721> + Stipules narrowly lanceolate; stem prickles with prominent basal tubercle, straight. 21 *H. hispidissimus* <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=250076978> I think it may be *Hibiscus surattensis *based on the stem prickles as per the keys.
