Celosia cristata can be separated from Celosia argentea both morphologically and genetically, as mentioned in this paper <https://www.researchgate.net/publication/250612821>. However POWO will not put them separated because Celosia cristata is not a wild species, and you cannot define a distribution for it, which POWO always has on every species page. So it is up to you if you want to treat them as separate or not.
