Erect or ascending perennial hairy herb; leaves opposite, sometimes
alternate, gradually reduced in size upwards; petiole 2-4 mm long; stipules
2-4 mm long, triangular-ovate, ciliate; leaf ovate to narrowly lanceolate,
1.5-7 cm long, one or two lateral veins from middle portion of leaf in
addition to basal pair of lateral veins, rigidly hairy especially along
veins; floral clusters axillary, ciliate along margin; female flowers
sessile, male with 1.5-2 mm long pedicel, flowers 4-5 merous; fruiting
perianth strongly ribbed or winged; achene shining black to brown.

Photographed in September from near Dakpathar and near Baratkhai along road
to Chakrata.

This plant was difficult to fix because of lot of variation in this
species, but then distinct upper veins clinched the issue.
