Many thanks Garg ji.
I visited all the links that you provided. The last one that brings up the
BSI document - it was quite overwhelming, so I did not go through it.
Posted plant does look like *Hedyotis stylosa* R.Br. ex Wight & Arn.

I checked on the internet for any visual features that sets the two species
apart; here is what I got:

Feature *Hedyotis stylosa* *Hedyotis articularis*
*Stem Appearance* Usually smoother; internodes are more distinct. *Highly
"jointed"* or articulate appearance; very rugged stems.
*Leaf Shape* *Typically ovate to lanceolate; broader towards the
base.* Narrower,
*linear-oblong to lanceolate*; often more rigid.
*Leaf Margins* *Generally flat.* Often *revolute* (edges curl slightly
backward).
*Venation* *Secondary veins are more visible and spreading.* Veins are
often obscure or very closely packed.
*Inflorescence* Cymes are often slightly more open/branched. Flowers are
usually in *dense, terminal capitate clusters*.
------------------------------

I think the posted plant agrees well with the leaf shape: typically ovate
to lanceolate; broader towards the base AND leaf venation: secondary veins
are more visible and spreading.

I am not sure I understood about the appearance of the stem: usually
smoother; internodes are more distinct, and the inflorescence: cymes are
often slightly more open/branched.

For now I am convinced that the posted plant could be *Hedyotis stylosa*
R.Br. ex Wight & Arn.

Regards.
Dinesh
