My thought contributions toward the application of the nil epithet Ipomoea nil is often referred to as "White Edge Morning Glory" and it may be that due to the white (nil) colored edge in contrast to the color of the rest of the corolla that Ipomoea nil was so dubbed...The white edge is most often seen in asagao cultivars and not as common in wild populations , so the 'nil' epithet may still remain somewhat 'unfathomable'...
