Hi Pankaj, thanks for the details. But, neither Poa is a basionym for this one, nor the genus Panicum has existing specific epithet gamblei. So there was no force/rule to prevent Bor from naming the species in collector's name. Anyway after all both Gamble and Fischer were thick friends (citation needed). And Bor might have decided to honour Fischer who compiled the 3rd vol of Flora of Presidency after Gamble. So this may be purely honouring the contribution. And he has honoured Fisher thrice (Dimeria, Isachne & Panicum, from your list). That shows his great sense of appreciation.
