Sorry,
I just found out that
Allium ascalonicum L., Fl. Palaest.: 117 (1756)
is not a synonym of
Allium cepa var. aggregatum G.Don, Mem. Wern. Nat. Hist. Soc. 6: 27 (1827)
these two are different plants now known as Allium cepa and Allium ascalonicum.
I understand now.
