i have a very interesting story about this tree. i did my PhD from
Panjab University, Chandigarh. Behind the Botany Department there is a
long double row (about 500 meters) of these fully grown trees. as the
trees are planted closely they form a very shady tract amongst them.
so you can find some 'love birds'  sitting in the shades to catch some
private moments. so one of my very senior (he was a research associate
at that time) named the plant as "COUPLE PLANT" and he would often use
this name to describe the location and the tree with so serious of
expressions that a new student would take it to be correct but then he
would utter out the explanation and......
