Hi,
 Interesting discussion ! A simple way to check if it is D.malabarica is to 
taste the leaves.[Have this on my property and this was pointed out to me by 
Santosh Yadav]. Please check my post at this link :

It is not necessary that the flower color is always pink it can be light 
pink-white/cream in color depending upon where it grows.

Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb-  Tree 
Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- Leaf  Bauhinia like, two lobes are round at apices, 
5-9x4-9cm 
Inflorescence Type/ Size- as seen in the photos, pendulous, 
Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts- Minute (1.5-2.5 cm), White, 
Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds- Not seen
