2: Thanks for adding the info...
esp about the pedicel/pedical of Hibiscus...
that's why the flower breaks off so easily the day after blooming and often
falls off on its own leaving behind a segment of the stalk..
next time it happens I'll look at it with a little more knowing eyes.
