Yes I agree with Tanay. One has to accept that it was KEW now more than 115
years back who published Index Kewensis under the leadership of Sir J D
Hooker to bring naming to order by selecting correct names and synonyms, and
now there is a complete database , available online to whole World sorting
accepted names and synonyms. Agreed, there are many misses: some names are
missing, there is a huge list of unresolved names, missing citations and may
be some controversial decisions, but let us realize that such mistakes are
bound to occur in database of such a size. At least we have some thing to
bank upon. We can all contribute to bring such discrepancies to their notice
and I hope with efforts of all. I have been mailing at least one list of
errors/corrections to them every week.
I may say: The Plant List is not perfect at this stage but perhaps best
database available to us at present.
