Thank you Ajinkya ji. The name Rakta chandan was told to me by the local gardener. On the net http://ornamentalplants-adira.blogspot.com/2009/06/rakta-kanchan-bauhinia-purpurea.html
I found it is called Rakta Kanchan and not Rakta chandan as told by the gardener. Sorry for mixing up the two Regards Bhagyashri On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 8:15 PM, ajinkya gadave <[email protected]>wrote: > i don't think madhuri jee but *Pterocarpus santalinus is known as rakta > chandan.wait for experts replay * > * > * > * > * > * > * > On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 7:49 PM, Madhuri Raut <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Thank you Ajinkya ji. >> Is this what we call Rakta chandan in Marathi used as a antiinflammatory >> externally? >> >> Regards >> Bhagyashri >> >> >> On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 7:45 PM, ajinkya gadave >> <[email protected]>wrote: >> >>> Bauhinia purpurea >>> >>> >>> On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 7:16 PM, Madhuri Raut <[email protected]> wrote: >>> >>>> Request for identification >>>> >>>> can this be Bauhinia purpurea? >>>> >>>> Date/Time-Oct 2011 >>>> >>>> >>>> Location- Place, Altitude, GPS-Pune >>>> >>>> >>>> Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type-garden >>>> >>>> >>>> Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb- Tree >>>> >>>> >>>> Height/Length- about 30 ft I think >>>> >>>> >>>> Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- green bilobed at base and apex >>>> >>>> Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts- Pink flowers with 5 petals >>>> >>>> >>>> Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds- not seen >>>> >>>> >>>> Regards >>>> >>>> Bhagyashri >>>> >>> >>> >> >
