Thanks Satish ji for prompting me to do some more research. My earlier identification was based on Flora Simlensis, which covers the plants of neighbouring similar area, the Himalayan species, C. leucophylla DC. The correct name for this is now *Capparis** **sicula** *subsp.* **leucophylla* * *(DC.) Inocencio, D.Rivera, Obón & Alcaraz<http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-2697568>
My further investigation led me to find from eFl of Pakistan that C. leucophylla of Collet (Flora Simlensis) is different species not original C. leucophylla DC, and for this Himalayan plant, a new name was given *Capparis himalayensis* Jafri in Pak. J. For. 6: 197, t. 1. f. lb with map. 1956. So our plant is now to be named as C. himalayensis. It is different from C. spinosa in posterior sepal forming a large hood not found in C. spinosa. It also has broader larger leaves and smaller spines. http://www.efloras.org/object_page.aspx?object_id=115303&flora_id=5 http://www.efloras.org/object_page.aspx?object_id=115304&flora_id=5 Thanks Satish ji for initiating further insight into this Himalayan plant -- Dr. Gurcharan Singh Retired Associate Professor SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 Res: 932 Anand Kunj, Vikas Puri, New Delhi-110018.
