Thanks Balkar ji @HS Ji I doubt abut your sentence which says flowering after monsoon. In fact I have seen it flowering in May or April every year i.e. much before monsoon. Thanks for the info about monotypic nature and the conserved name. I was under the impression that the name is changed to something Derris but the plant List surprisingly says Pongamia pinnata as acceped name @Pankaji ji Thanks for adding your information not only to this but to many other Faboideae members. I remember during my childhood I used to visit my mothers native village place. Ticks (Piswa पिसवा ) was the big problem there. People used to apply the Karanj oil on the skin before sleeping to prevent the attack of these insects.
