Some times back Balkar ji had posted Scutellaria identified as Scutellaria discolor, largely based on photograph uploaded on Flowers of India and similar image in Flowers of Himalayas:
Flora of Chakrata: Scutellaria discolor from Deovan Road Chakrata https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/indiantreepix/%5Befloraofindia:83584%5D$20Flora$20of$20Chakrata:$20Scutellaria$20discolor$20from$20Deovan$20Road$20Chakrata/indiantreepix/8gsldvVW1Ik/0FzXnPHHp8wJ http://www.flowersofindia.in/catalog/slides/Bicolor%20Skullcap.html After going through these photographs and mine from Chakrata and Kud in Jammu & Kashmir I have a feeling that all these including above and one on Flowers of India may belong to Scutellaria grossa. Unfortunately there are not any photographs or pictures of S. grossa available, but judging from length of corolla tube and bracts below the flowers, I tend to go for Scutellaria grossa. Also the these images of S. discolor lead me to think that perhaps I may be right. http://eelke.li/manaslu/plaatjes/ej002.jpg http://131.230.176.4/imgs/pso/r/Lamiaceae_Scutellaria_discolor_30710.html http://131.230.176.4/imgs/pso/r/Lamiaceae_Scutellaria_discolor_30709.html Your opinion on this please. -- Dr. Gurcharan Singh Retired Associate Professor SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 Res: 932 Anand Kunj, Vikas Puri, New Delhi-110018.
