Dear HS, ... the people of the spice farm are sure about the plant being *
patchouli*, only that they are not aware of the scientific name.
Patchouli, as such is associated with *Pogostemon cablin* (true patchouli)
and *P. heyneanus* (Indian patchouli).
No ruling out your guess HS -- do let me know if any one of *P. parviflora*OR
*P. pubescens* also share the patchouli name in any way.
