Madhuca longifolia is what we see commonly in and around Bangalore, mostly planted. Madhuca indica is found quite rarely in the wild in forests around Bangalore(Turallibetta etc), the leaves are much broader, bark has horizontal fissures when tree is young.Fruits are 2 to 3 seeded,(compressed) with less pulp unlike M.longifolia. M.indica and M.longifolia are different by leaves, bark, fruits and flowers.
