Friends,
There is healthy population of CHE (Changeable Hawk Eagles) at Matheran. In
my last 6 months of continuous field trips in this hill station I could
locate at least 3 pairs of them in stretch of *C*. 10 kms. and one nest ,
probably other nests are not located by me or by my team. But yesterday our
team had to cancel our field trip due to heavy forest fire which was
spreading rapidly. I am afraid that this fire may take toll of nest ( I
don`t know when is the breeding time for these raptors) and the other
wildlife. All the recent (post monsoon) plantation (of Bombax cieba and
Butea monosprma), by FD, could get wiped out by this forest fire.
