Common name Silk cotton tree.Panju maram in tamil. Common in South India.The negative aspects of the tree are: 1. Pollen are allergic. 2. The tree is a host for the wood worm which infect the wood of mango trees, resulting in the death of the trees. Therefore, the C.pentandra should not be cultivated near mango groves / trees.
