Sir,

There is *no 'pepper'* in *Persicaria orientalis* (L.) leaves, at least, in
this season of the year.

I have tasted bits of leaves from three plants, each leaf being of
different stage of maturity. All are bitter tasted *without a faint hint of
any peppery smell*.
