*Momordica charantia* L., Sp. Pl. 1009. 1753. 

Common names: Bitter gourd, karela

Commonly cultivated vine with longer fruits reaching 25 cm in length, 
oblong-fusiform in shape, tubercled surface and red pulp when ripe.
