Thank all of you for your quick responses. I am quite *relieved* to know this is a common plant and found over a vast habitat from Africa to Rajasthan. The area where I took these pictures would be under dam water forever in a few years. Sorry, I am late to reply. I use cellphone to surf a lot of time, it's almost impossible to reply with it.
