Dear All
We reached back home on night of 18 May after an another successful visit
to Chakrata region. For the information of members I wish to share some
important things.
Chakrata is situated in Uttarakhand State in Dehradoon District. This
region is considered as a paradise of botanists due to many regions. This
place is still far away from general tourists and completely out of bound
for foreigners. Hotel facilities are still highly underdeveloped in the
area as only 3-4 hotels are there. Even forest rest houses are situated in
remote area and with lack of basic facilities like electricity, poor toilet
and bath facilities, non availability of water etc. So natural vegetation
is still intact and very very less plastic pollution. there are no much
places to visit for general tourist. Besides all this this is the best
place for nature loers. Budher is famous for beautiful butterflies. In this
dry season also we could saw 2-3 dozens type of beautiful butterflies. This
time we could saw many precious medicinal plants in budher and deovan area
naturally like Podophyllum hexandrum (in fruiting stage), Taxus baccata,
Polygonatum multiflorum (in flowering), Polygonatum verticillatum (in
flowering) etc. More than two dozens of trees were also seen in flowering
stage. This time we interacted with many locals there and after many
discussions we reached on the conclusion that Chakrata region must be
visited in the month of Feb/March (End of Feb to first week of March) then
in Mid of July to end of July then in september and also in November.
