Dear All Respected Members, This grass is very common in uncultivated land, outfields of playgrounds. We call this CHORKANTA in Bengali. My assumption, of it being *Chrysopogon aciculatus* (Retz.) Trin. (syn. *Andropogon aciculatus* Retz.), based upon -
1. "a pest of waste fields during the rains" - "Plant Groups" by H. Mukherji, a college text book from West Bengal 2. records from Serampore (Hooghly) - "Flora Indica, or, Descriptions of Indian plants / by the late William Roxburgh. Serampore: Printed for W. Thacker, 1832. url p. 722." = http://zipcodezoo.com/Plants/A/Andropogon_aciculatus/ However, description and id keys of the grass is available, but beyond my understanding - - flora of China - http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=107007 - flora of Taiwan - http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=1050&taxon_id=200025058 - a pdf file from the above site - http://flora.huh.harvard.edu/china/PDF/PDF22/Chrysopogon.pdf I will try to collect data on measurements of this grass too.
