Gurcharan ji,

I am not familiar with native (wild-growing) Schefflera plants.
My posted plant is based on Shrikant ji's ID.
In Western Ghats, peninsular India towards n-e India, we have *Heptapleurum
venulosum* (Wight & Arn.) Seem. ... synonym of *Schefflera venulosa* from
what I found in Cooke's
flora<http://www.archive.org/stream/floraofpresidenc01cook#page/n591/mode/2up>
.
This species seems to be distributed to a larger extent than other.

Other natives distributed are (referenced from eflora of China and Nepal)
-- for later reference:

*Schefflera elliptica* (Blume) Harms
shrub - (perhaps n-e India), Taiwan, Indo-China to Australia.

*Schefflera pubigera* (Brongn. ex Planch.) Frodin (syn. *Schefflera
bengalensis* Gamble)
Himalayas to s-c China

Schefflera elata (Buch.-Ham.) Harms
tree - 1800-2100m Himalaya (Kumaun to Bhutan), Assam, Burma, s-w China

Schefflera impressa (C. B. Clarke) Harms
tree - 2000-3400m Himalaya (Kumaun to Bhutan), s-w China

Schefflera hypoleuca (Kurz) Harms
tree - Dense forests; ca. 1300 m. s China, India, Myanmar, Vietnam

Schefflera racemosa (Wight) Harms
tree - endemic s Western Ghats

Looking at the purple rachis of your posted (and potted) plant, it could be
*Schefflera venulosa*.
The reasoning is weak, please consider it as a guess.

Regards.
Dinesh
