Hi Prabhu,

Isn't *G. celosioides* a synonym to *G. serrata*? I think there is some
level of confusion in this nomenclature.
Please check these references: Mears in Taxon 29: 86.1980; FTN 2: 192.
1987. I think they have treated G. serrata as an accepted name.
I am aware that The Plant List treats them separate (but with low
confidence level!).
FoC questions "...whether this (G. celosioides Mart.) is the same as *
Gomphrena* *serrata* L."
http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200007001
FoP treats G. decumbens sensu Gamb. as synonym under G. celosioides Mart.

As far as I know, there are only two species of Gomphrena in southern India
(or at least TN), G. globosa and G. serrata (ENVIS checklist of Flora of
Tamil Nadu by Dr. Narasimhan et al.)
