A reply:
"This is Begonia dipetala var dipetala and not B. malabarica. Begonia
malabarica is an endemic species in Kerala. All the names published under
the name B. malabarica from other part of India need a careful study.

In fact, B. malabarica was based on Rheede's Tsjeria-narinampuli. It was
validated by Lamark. It is an endemic species of kerala.

For further Reading kindly see{ 1}Santhosh Kumar E.S., Seema G. Gopal and

identity after the discovery and a note its allied species. Begonian 72
(Jul/Aug): 135-140." from Santhosh ji.
